THE CHARACTER OF THE SCHOOL
Over the years EHS has established a unique character with an environment that ensures acclaimed learners and educators. The school’s priorities include respect, friendliness and a nurturing character. Learners are ambassadors and are encouraged to be involved in all aspects of school life and academics.
BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
Empangeni High School is situated south of the Main Road (the major road between Empangeni and Richards Bay). The school is within walking distance from the centre of town. The new building was completed in 1975 and is adjacent to the old building. The school now contains well-equipped Life Science and Physical Science laboratories; a modern Mechanical workshop; Consumer Study centres; Computer and IT centres; fully equipped
Engineering Graphic Design centre as well as a Music centre.
The Music Centre is really one of its kind! It is the largest Music Centre in KZN where Music as an examinable subject is offered, ranging from wind instruments to piano and singing.
The hostels are governed by the School’s Governing Body (SGB). Applications for hostel accommodation are welcomed annually.
SCHOOL RULES AND UNIFORMS
Learners receive a diary and Code of Conduct at the beginning of each year to ensure good planning and ensure good behaviour.
Learners attend all school functions in school uniform unless special permission has been given by the principal to wear acceptable, appropriate mufti.
